Description

  

The Process Engineer will contribute to the implementation, analysis and improvement of processes. This position will encompass conducting research studies, designing innovative solutions and overseeing the implementation and troubleshooting of various procedures. The Process Engineer must prioritize continuous improvement of existing processes, while also developing innovative solutions. This position will stay abreast of customer and market demands, along with industry developments in fiber and chemicals. The Process Engineer must take a “hands-on” approach, collaborating with cross-functional teams to see projects through to completion.

DGH is a leading manufacturer of technical textiles, fabrics and yarns used in the appliance industry, industrial markets, and personal protective equipment (PPE).


Essential Functions:

  • Use scientific, mathematical, and engineering principles to solve problems and improve processes.
  • Drive technological innovation by creating and implementing a goal-oriented plan for all stages of research on current and new products, processes and production methods.
  • Improve manufacturing processes by completing comprehensive analyses of processes, materials and equipment to identify areas for process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Develop and implement process control strategies to ensure consistent product quality and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with chemical processes, equipment and production systems.
  • Monitor and analyze production data to regulate process parameters, improve yields, and reduce scrap.
  • Test components of new processes and design pilot projects for the next step in small-scale testing; supervise initial processes and make necessary adjustments.
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, technological advancement and best practices in chemical engineering.
  • Participate in the scale-up and commercialization of new products and processes from research to full-scale production. 
  • Develop and implement safety procedures.
Requirements

  

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience in chemical engineering in the high-performance textiles industry.
  • Advanced MS365 User.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing methodologies. 
  • NCCCCE Certified Chemical Engineer (CCE), a plus


Skills:

  • Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, process design, and process control.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop solutions.
  • Prior experience with process control and automation technologies.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, presentation and project management skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work with all departments and levels within the organization. 
  • Ability to communicate with others, especially those without a technical background.
  • Hands-on approach to projects.
  • Self-directed and has a passion for results.


Supervisory Experience:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Travel:

  • This position may require occasional travel to other Davlyn sites.


Hours:

  • 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday with a one-hour unpaid lunch.
  • Departmental demands may necessitate additional work outside of the standard work hours.
