Department: Market Selection & Business Development
Reports to: Director of Market Expansion Strategy
Location: Savannah-area (preferred), Jacksonville, Atlanta. Remote
General Description
We are seeking a highly analytical and driven Market Research Analyst to play a critical role in identifying and assessing new market opportunities for broadband expansion. This position bridges data analysis with strategic insight to support Clearwave Fiber’s growth. The successful candidate will use both quantitative and qualitative methods to evaluate demographic, competitive, and infrastructure data to inform go/no-go decisions and develop actionable market-entry strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Data Collection & Analysis
- Collect and analyze demographic, competitive, and infrastructure data using modern tools such as GIS, FCC Broadband maps, and proprietary databases.
- Synthesize data into actionable insights and produce reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain scoring models and matrices for market evaluation (e.g., competition, density, economic potential).
- Develop financial and operational models to evaluate all expansion-related strategic initiatives, including new market builds and network extensions
- Market Screening & Recommendations
- Research and evaluate prospective markets based on pre-established criteria such as household density, income levels, and existing infrastructure gaps. Leverage competitive ride-out, desktop cost estimates, and high-level designs to refine build areas for selected markets
- Produce detailed feasibility studies and go/no-go recommendations, including SWOT analysis for selected markets.
- Track trends in fiber deployment, emerging competitor actions, and changes in local economic conditions.
Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with the Market Selection team to refine selection matrices and scoring methods.
- Support the development of market-entry plans, including cost analysis, projected penetration rates, and competitor impact assessment.
- Prepare investment memoranda and executive-level presentations for the senior leadership team and internal peer departments.
What you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Market Research, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in market research, strategy, or a data-driven role, preferably in telecommunications or a related industry.
- Advanced skills in Excel, GIS, and data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI).
- Proven ability to manage and analyze large datasets, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting findings to senior leadership.
- Experience with CRM platforms and project management tools is a plus.
- Ability to travel occasionally for on-site market assessments.
