Job Summary:

The Product Owner will play a crucial role within the product team, focusing on the optimization of all aspects of customer onboarding for both existing and future product lines by designing, implementing and continuously improving onboarding processes to ensure a seamless and successful customer experience. The Product Owner will collaborate cross-functionally to align onboarding strategies with stakeholders, developers, and UX/UI designers, as well as long-term user engagement goals, driving satisfaction and retention across all platforms. 


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Product Vision & Strategy: Collaborate with leadership to define and articulate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, focusing on delivering value to CTE educators and students.
  • Backlog Management: Prioritize and maintain the product backlog within Azure DevOps, ensuring that development teams have clear and concise user stories, acceptance criteria, and business goals.
  • Feature Development: Drive the delivery of new features and enhancements by working closely with development, UX/UI, and QA teams, ensuring timely and high-quality releases.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between internal teams (e.g. marketing, sales, support) and external stakeholders (educators, industry partners) to gather insights and translate them into actionable product requirements.
  • User Story Definition: Write and refine user stories that align with the product vision, providing context, detail, and acceptance criteria to development teams.
  • Market Research: Conduct competitive analysis and stay informed about trends in CTE and EdTech to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.
  • Industry Expertise: Develop a deep understanding of EdTech industry data standards, platforms, and integration services, including OneRoster, EdFi, Classlink, Clever, RosterStream, Canvas, D2L, and PowerSchool.
  • Agile Methodology: Participate in Agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, using Azure DevOps to ensure efficient and collaborative development processes.
  • Performance Monitoring: Measure the success of product features through KPIs, user feedback, and analytics, using insights to inform future product decisions and improvements.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of Career & Technical Education and/or instructional resource delivery platforms.
  • Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, with a track record of delivering successful product features and enhancements.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps for backlog management and project tracking.
  • Passion for education technology and a commitment to enhancing the learning experience for CTE students and educators.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role, preferably within EdTech.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
