Atalco Gramercy Operations is the leading producer of Alumina in the United States. Our Gramercy refinery produces 1.2 million tons a year of smelter grade alumina (SGA) for the production of aluminum as well as chemical grade alumina (CGA) which is used in a wide array of industrial applications.

We are currently seeking a Preventative Maintenance Technician for our Gramercy, LA refinery.

Job Summary/Objective

 This position is responsible for analyzing and performing preventative maintenance inspections and services on various machines and equipment on site. He /She will report to the Reliability Manager and interface with the Vibrations Analysts, Maintenance Supervisors, and Operations Supervisors.

Essential Functions

• Manually collect vibration data using a commtest handheld data collector.
• Manually collect monthly oil samples.
• Perform infrared surveys to gather temperature profiles of various equipment.
• Must have basic understanding of pumps, gearboxes, turbines, compressors, fans, conveyors, electric motors, and other types of rotating equipment.
• Must have basic understanding of lubricating oil and grease
• Has to be proficient in problem solving and have a basic understanding of process systems.
• Proficient in written communications.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Must have Safety Awareness.
  

Education/Training Requirements

• Highschool diploma or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related degree
• Must have at least 2 years of experience in this field

Work Environment

• External – Working outside in the elements – rain, cold, heat – dusty environment.
• Internally – Office environment.

Physical Demands

• May be required to walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
• May have to bend, stoop, kneel, reach and climb.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
