Job Summary: The Assistant Controller will support the Controller in managing the accounting operations of the company. This role includes overseeing the preparation of financial statements, maintaining the general ledger, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. This role requires a strategic thinker that is willing to roll up his / her sleeves to do what is necessary to get the job done. 


Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions): 

  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. 
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Support the financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes. 
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support business planning and scenario analysis. 
  • Develop dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor financial performance. 
  • Assist with internal and external audits as needed. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and reporting requirements. 
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable functions. 
  • Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. 
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. 
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insight and support. 
Requirements

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities: 

  • CPA or CMA certification preferred. 
  • Experience in a high-growth small-to-medium business preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting. 
  • Proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite experience highly desirable) and Microsoft Office Suite including advanced Excel skills. 
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment 

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role
