Description

Advanced Silicon Carbide Materials (ASCM), located in Lihue, Hawaii, designs and manufactures high performance mirrors and telescopes made of CVC SiC® or composites. These precision-engineered optical products are used in a wide range of civilian, military and aerospace applications. ASCM is seeking an entry level and an experienced full time General Laborer - Process Technician for 3rd shift. This is an immediate opportunity and a high technology job available on Kauai.


The Process Technician focuses on the manufacturing of advanced ceramics, i.e. silicon carbide. The facility operations 24/7 during the operation of CVD/CVC reactors with the goal of achieving Run Order objectives and customer order requirements as directed by a Research Scientist. Additional responsibilities include plant and support equipment maintenance and calibration routines.

Requirements

 Key Job Functions Include CVD/CVC Reactor Operations include:

  • Preparation of the graphite material to support of reactor run orders
  • Load and unloading of graphite fixtures/removal of deposited SiC material
  • Pre-startup review of reactor operations through testing and performance assessment to ensure safety of personnel and equipment
  • Monitor status of reactor and support equipment performance during operation
  • Provide continuous improvement to written standard operating procedures
  • Conduct regular maintenance and calibration routines to ensure expected design performance and accuracy of established process gas flow rates
  • Loading/unloading of material shipments to and from plant using a forklift
  • Provide detailed shift reporting to ensure a seamless transition to next shift
  • Maintain efficiency and cleanliness of all work areas


 Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED with applied technical training certificate
  • 1+ years’ experience in mechanics or other shop/industrial tool-related fields
  • Mechanical aptitude with common electrical shop tools and hand tools
  • Electrician, auto mechanic, HVAC and plumbing trade skills a plus
  • Competency in writing and Microsoft apps skills are required to record reactor processing
  • Able to work in a 24/7 multiple-shift plant operation, overtime hours are expected
  • Must be a team player
  • Self-starter with strong initiative
Salary Description
$25.00/hour
