Responsibilities: 

  • Greet all members enthusiastically in the Fitness Area, Fitness Desk, & Welcome Desk. 
  • Develop relationships, provide assistance, and be responsive to member needs. 
  • Champion consistent communications.  Wear and use walkie talkies during shifts. 
  • Model and enforce the J’s policies. 
  • Promote and educate members on the J’s programs, services, and activities offered. 
  • Schedule Health and Fitness Orientations. 
  • Maintain a clean, safe and orderly Fitness Center.  Keep towels stocked and folded. Conduct locker room, sauna, and steam room checks. 
  • Ensure members have good experiences by performing daily checks on all audio, electronic and fitness equipment. Notify maintenance of any issues by J’s designated practices.  
  • Complete all tasks outlined in Daily Tasks Communication Binder, as well as additional responsibilities assigned by management. 
  • Be a great team player to peers. Provide break relief to the Welcome Desk Staff when needed. 
  • Know your stuff! Attend all department and required meetings. 
  • Complete all personal administrative responsibilities, such as accurate payroll records. 
  • Ability to work non-traditional business hours

Requirements

 Education: 

  • High School Diploma 
  • CPR/AED certified (provided if needed, must obtain within 60 days of employment) 
  • Know proper emergency procedures for the center 

Experience: 

  • Previous community center, health club, fitness, or customer service experience a plus. 

Working Conditions: 

  • Fitness Center/Community Center environment 
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 10 pounds 
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time/hours in a same shift
