**This position is fully remote. However, candidates located within 1.5 hours of the Boston area are preferred due to occasional on-site installations (estimate of 1-2 times a month). Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.
Magna5 is seeking a leading Systems Engineer who can design, implement, and provide operational support for network infrastructure while providing guidance to team members. Because this position requires interaction with business executives and end users to plan and install/upgrade/manage network infrastructure, candidates need to be highly professional, personable, and organized.
Responsibilities:
- Managing and providing guidance to a team of engineers, ensuring efficient workflow and successful project completion
- Designing, installing, and providing operational support for networking equipment such as Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls, Fortinet devices, SonicWALL, Meraki, and HP network devices
- Maximizing network performance by monitoring, troubleshooting, and upgrading hardware and software
- Securing systems by establishing, documenting, and enforcing policies
- Gathering and analyzing data; reporting on the operational status of networks
- Providing remote support to onsite engineers and end users during installation
- Investigating and resolving service interruptions
- Acting as an escalation point and subject matter expert for network-related issues
- Serving on-call after hours to resolve IT issues on a limited, rotating basis
Qualifications:
- Fluent in networking concepts: TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, DHCP, DNS, Routing, VPN clients, Switching and Firewalls
- The ability to triage technical issues and provide timely responses (spoken, written, electronically) in layman’s terms
- Extreme proficiency at producing documentation and accurately updating tickets in a CRM system
- The ability to communicate clearly (spoken, written, electronically)
- Well organized with great attention to detail
- A well-rounded team player that brings patience, adaptability, a positive attitude, and a good sense of humor
- 2-4 years of hands-on experience in a Network Engineer role; including network implementation, integration, and maintenance
- Proficiency in network infrastructure technologies: routing, switching, cabling, wireless, etc.
- Familiarity with security technologies: firewalls, patch management, best practices, etc.
- The ability to configure and test LAN/WAN equipment and related devices
- Ideally live within a 40-mile radius of Natick, MA.
- Knowledge of common computer systems, peripherals, and network operating systems
- VMware and Microsoft Windows Server knowledge, support, and installation experience a plus
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within a managed services environment.

- Networking: Diagnose and resolve networking issues, ensuring optimal performance and security of client networks.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Tier 1 support, other engineers, and clients to deliver comprehensive IT solutions.
- Leadership: Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends and technologies, continuously improving skills and knowledge

- Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on root cause analysis.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and guide junior team members.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Priority Consideration for Candidates with:
- At least 1 year of management experience
- At least 1 year of experience working for an MSP / IT consulting firm
- At least 1 year of experience with ConnectWise Manage and Automate
- The ability to provision and troubleshooting voice services: Hosted PBX, SIP, and analog voice
- One or more of the following certifications: A+, N+, MCSE, MSA, MCP, CNE, CNA, and CCNA.
- Experience with CAT6 Cabling, Patch Panel work, Cross Connections. Able to tone and trace cables.
