Job Description:
The EH&S Manager will have responsibility for ensuring that ABEC's operations are conducted in compliance with all applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations, at all times and in all locations, on a world-wide basis. The incumbent in this role will assure that the company maintains constant awareness of all current applicable regulations and has appropriate SOP's and Work Instructions in place to address such regulations. Additionally, the EH&S Manager will ensure that all employees are trained in the procedures relevant to their respective area of operations and will verify that those procedures are followed properly by conducting internal audits and inspections as deemed necessary. This role will interface closely with all level of the Manufacturing function on a global basis. Additionally, interaction with the Quality Control and HR functions will be required in order to assure a common understanding of company objectives, operational strategies, and cross-functional compliance at all levels of the organization.
The EH&S Manager will provide leadership in the developmental and implementation of policies, procedures, and training programs focused on achieving the highest level of operational safety and regulatory compliance across all ABEC facilities world-wide. Such efforts will ensure proper storage, handling and disposal of all hazardous or regulated materials, as well as safe operational practices by ABEC employees, both within company facilities and at off-site customer locations, in order to protect employees, customers, and the environment. This position is also responsible for the formal reporting of EH&S data to respective agencies such as HSA and similar international agencies for operations outside the USA.
Responsibilities:
Ø Provide safety support and information to employees.
Ø Identify safety training needs and coordinate safety training programs.
Ø Assist in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment activities.
Ø Develop/Update Job Safety Analyses/Risk Assessments as needed.
Ø Perform internal safety audits.
Ø Support emergency preparedness procedures.
Ø Assist in the selection of appropriate personal protective equipment.
Ø Promote safety awareness through communication and specific training programs.
Ø Chair plants’ Safety Committee meetings and communicate best practices with other sites.
Ø Schedule/Conduct/Evaluate Emergency Response Drills at site.
Ø Successfully manage and complete all EH&S related work assignments and duties in a timely manner.
Ø Conduct effective EH&S related training for employees, contractors and visitors.
Ø Assist in the development and implementation of EH&S related policies, procedures and programs to assure compliance with all federal, state, local and company-specific regulations & requirements.
Ø Review incident reports (accidents and near misses) and follow-up as necessary to ensure accuracy and completeness of all information provided.
Ø Conduct EH&S related workplace inspections and participate in accident/incident investigations to identify root-cause and appropriate corrective actions.
Ø Coordinate with HR on Workers Compensation and Return-to-Work matters.
Ø Properly respond to day-to-day EH&S related issues in a timely and efficient manner
Ø Maintain required detailed recordkeeping; report EH&S required data to Corporate Office.
Ø Monitor and report on plant safety goals and objectives.
Ø Ensure understanding of all EH&S and regulatory requirements needed to maintain a safe work environment.
Ø Execute other tasks as assigned.
Ø Conduct quarterly waste-water reports.
Ø Conduct chemical audits and usage reports.
Ø Ability to travel when required.
Ø Enforce positive safety culture and hold all employees accountable for the ABEC safety program.
Ø Enter safety data for safety observation reports.
Ø Perform any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned.
Ø Will play an active role in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunity.
Requirements
Ø 5 -10 years’ experience at a management level in this specific discipline, preferably with direct responsibility for multi-site operations, both domestic, international and 2-3 years’ experience in running a site safety program.
Ø Level 7 degree, ideally related to workplace safety, industrial engineering, or similar discipline.
Ø Practical knowledge of HSA (Ireland) & OSHA (USA) regulatory requirements.
Ø Experience with HSA compliance.
Ø Applies engineering controls, administrative procedures and work practices to address EHS risks.
Ø Manages the compiling, updating and analysis of all appropriate data to ensure EHS compliance with government regulations and company standards.
Ø Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products.
Ø Must be flexible, innovative and comfortable in setting own priorities.
Ø Polished presentation, business acumen and facilitation skills.
Ø Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with professional presentation and negotiation skills.
Ø Ability to communicate clearly too all levels of management.
Ø Ability to obtain a CIF safety supervisor certification.
Ø Prior Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus
