As a member of the Finance team, the Payroll and Collections Specialist processes bi-weekly payroll and facilitates collection of delinquent accounts.
Responsibilities:
Payroll
- Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, and other information.
- Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
- Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.
- Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
- Records and processes federal and state payroll tax deposits.
- Process bi-monthly ACH payments.
Collections
- Requests and pursues payment on delinquent accounts via communication with account holder.
- Follows established guidelines to review and update account status.
- Maintains log of payment promises and pertinent account details; schedules follow-up communication with account holder.
- Monitors accounts receivable and cash receipt reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills:
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software.
- Understanding of federal, state and local payroll regulations.
- Ability to communicate with account holders in a courteous manner.
- Ability to learn other accounting functions to facilitate cross-training.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree from the accredited college.
- Four (4) years of experience in accounting, accounts receivable, or bookkeeping with at least two (2) years of experience in payroll preferred.
