The Commercial Billing Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the Commercial Billing and Collections staff as well as the Self Pay Account Receivable Specialists.
Essential Duties
- Coordinate educational opportunities within the department.
- Develop, implement and evaluate existing policies and procedures in the database.
- Work with Epic Certified Trainer to develop tip sheets and visios.
- Evaluate outstanding A/R via ATBs, Dashboards, WQ Monitoring, and various reports and works to align the team with designated key performance indicators to achieve goals on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Identify and communicate system issues related to billing, collections, statements, payment plans, dialer files, follow up work queues, bad debt and other identified miscellaneous issues with the Epic Coordinators and PFS Director.
- Submit help tickets and work with Epic Application Coordinators and/or Analytics to resolve issues, including testing and training as necessary.
- Liaison for Medical Reimbursements of America (MRA).
- Maintain attendance at Managed Care In-services, onsite meetings and conference calls with Insurance Provider Representatives.
- Provide feedback of insurance trends to the Denials and Contract Management Manager.
- Organizes and monitors the productivity and quality of assigned staff. Create and implement metrics for productivity and quality, maximizing staff's efficiency and issues resolution
- Oversee and manage staff related to Commercial/Blue Cross/3rd Party billing and collections, and Self Pay collections.
- Perform duties related to Kronos.
- Prepares documents required by payors, internal and external auditors.
- Regular rounding with staff.
Required Experience:
- Excellent guest relation skills, including verbal and written
- Ability to work independently
- Experience using Microsoft Office Word and Excel is required.
- PC and Keyboarding Skills (30+ WPM preferred)
Preferred Experience:
- Three plus (3+) years' experience in a management/supervisor role, preferred.
- EPIC experience preferred.
- Previous Collections or Insurance experience within last 3 years, preferred.
- ICD10/CPT Medical terminology preferred
- Two years hospital patient accounting experience, preferred
Preferred Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Healthcare-related field, preferred.
