The Direct Support Professional aids in the implementation of instructional plans, care, and activities for clients served in assigned areas.
Responsibilities
- Execute Curriculum Program per program schedule.
- Provide supervision and active treatment through program and assist clients in achieving goals.
- Assist with the personal care needs of adults enrolled in services.
- Perform necessary housekeeping duties as assigned to ensure facility and equipment are clean and sanitary.
- Intervene in crisis situations and complete the necessary documentation, if necessary.
- Demonstrate teamwork with staff and clients served in the agency.
- Administer assessments for clients served as directed by QIDPs, Nursing, or Program Specialists.
- Provide medication administration to clients on a routine or “as needed” basis, if applicable.
- Keep current on all trainings and Behavior Support Plans.
- Transport and supervise clients during agency-sponsored and agency-based activities, if necessary. On occasion, staff may need to use their own vehicle.
- Staff may be cross-trained in all day services programs to provide relief, if necessary.
- All other duties as assigned by director.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods sitting, standing, bending and lifting
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Must be able to lift up to 125 pounds, with assistance, at times
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Must possess a strong service orientation, including active listening, critical thinking skills, and close monitoring of clients
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma
- Experience with developmentally disabled population
