New England Dermatology & Laser Center has been providing dermatology care to the greater Springfield community for over 70 years.  We're looking for an experienced Surgical Medical Assistant with conscientious work ethics & dedication to the team to join our busy specialty practice. 


Heavy patient interaction.  Primary duties include facilitating a positive patient office experience, rooming patients, documenting visits, taking before and after photos, assisting with various procedures and surgeries, maintaining sterile field, administering injections, assisting with suturing, wound care, patient preparation, education & follow-up, scheduling appointments, room preparation & stocking, triaging/returning calls, and other related tasks. Must have an excellent bedside manner. Attention to detail also a must.  


Job Type: Full-time


Schedule: M-F 7a-3:30p, 40 hours per week (1/2 hour non-paid lunch)

  • 8-hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends 

Work setting: 

  • In-person. 
  • The regular work location will be Springfield, but may vary between our offices (Northampton, Springfield, Longmeadow and Westfield) based on staffing and provider needs.

Pay:

  • Hiring range $20.22-$24.26 per hour based on experience and education.

Requirements

Requirements: High school diploma or GED and Medical Assisting Certificate from an accredited school required.  Medical assisting experience is required.  Dermatology and Mohs experience & certification preferred, but surgical experience not necessary. RMA, CMA or CDT is required within 6 months of hire.  


This position reports to the Surgical Center Supervisor.  Overtime and scheduling flexibility may be required to accommodate operational needs.
