The Grain and Energy Associate contributes to our mission by facilitating grain and energy services for our customers and creating successful opportunities for the WFR.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service and act in a polite and professional manner to all customers and staff
- Responsible to greet customers, assist with their needs, be the first line for answering the phone
- Ensure the front and scale are covered if absent
- Operate the forklift as needed to unload product in the warehouse
- Fill small LP tanks for customers
- Build relationships with grain and energy customer base
- Have a working knowledge of local and regional grain markets
- Maintain a close relationship with grain operations team and coordinate logistics and/or issues with them in a timely manner
- Assist with coordinating trucking as assigned
- Assist with products and ingredient purchasing
- Complete all grain accounting work including but not limited to settlements, month and year end reporting, writing checks, position reports, defers, etc.
- Work with state auditors during annual grain audits
- Update website bids
- Actively work to stay within budget for grain and energy division
- Proactively look to increase and expand energy business
- Assist with energy purchasing decisions
- Assist with directing energy operations staff logistics
- Ensure the fuel station is clean and maintenance is completed
- Coordinate shipments of LP with our transportation department
- Assist with inventory of energy products
- Complete energy accounting functions
- Facilitate A/R and collection efforts
- Have a working knowledge of all areas that the Director of Grain & Energy Marketing covers
- Serve as backup to the Director of Grain & Energy Marketing in absences
- Work extended hours as assigned, especially seasonally

Education and/or Experience
Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment
Schedule: Must work scheduled days and hours assigned by manager. Must work full time, a minimum of 40 hours per week. Schedule will be Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with additional hours as needed.
Environment: Indoors and outdoors. Nosie level is usually quiet to moderate. Majority of time will be spent in an office environment.
Travel: Minimal. May have to travel occasionally for meetings, supplies, etc.
