The Job

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of product inventory within all supply chain locations. Whether working in a retail setting or a distribution center, this role plays a critical part in verifying inventory counts, tracking and documenting location errors, and collaborating with teams to address order, carton, and location issues. Furthermore, the Inventory Specialist liaises with the Technology and Accounting teams to address WMS (Warehouse Management System), WCS (Warehouse Control System), and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) matters.

The Opportunity

  • Error Resolution: Promptly and accurately resolve order and location errors to maintain inventory accuracy. 
  • Tracking: Physically and systematically track errors and product movements, ensuring a comprehensive record is maintained. 
  • Communication: Maintain open, clear, and actionable communication with DC (Distribution Center) Supervisors, Leads, and associates to address inventory-related issues. 
  • Guidance: Provide daily guidance to peers and associates to ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the production floor. 
  • Training: Train team members in the inventory count process and offer support in troubleshooting order and location issues. 
  • Validation: Verify the accuracy of product counts in various locations, including LPNs (License Plate Numbers) and orders. 
  • Standard Work: Adhere to standard work processes and guidelines to ensure consistency and accuracy in inventory management. 
  • Department Support: Assist the DC Supervisor in identifying, developing, and enhancing standard work processes to improve inventory operations. 
  • Flexibility: Be prepared to take on additional duties and responsibilities as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Requirements

The Must Haves

  • A high school diploma or equivalent or an equivalent background in warehousing, logistics, or a related field. 
  • 1-2 years prior experience in a warehousing, inventory, or supply chain role. 
  • Equipment operation, warehousing knowledge, communication, attention to detail, problem-solving

Technology

  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS): Proficiency in using WMS software to manage inventory and track movements. 
  • Warehouse Control Systems (WCS): Basic understanding of WCS for real-time control and monitoring of material handling systems within a warehouse. 
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems: Familiarity with ERP systems, which may be used for broader business operations, including inventory management. 
  • Microsoft Office: Proficiency in Excel and Outlook for data management, communication, and reporting. 
  • Specialized Inventory Software: Depending on the employer, there may be specialized inventory software or systems used, and familiarity with these can be an asset. 

The Nice to Haves

  • Familiarity with inventory management software or systems, such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), is a plus.

The base wage for this role ranges from $19.00/hr to $26.42/hr. Where you land in that range depends on your skills and experience, and we also factor in internal pay equity. While the full range is listed for this role, we rarely hire at the top of the range, leaving room for professional and financial growth in role.
