Summary

The Medical Director is responsible for ensuring the provision of quality clinical services delivered by the staff of Christ Health in addition to their individual clinical duties related to patient care.

Major Duties & Responsibilities: Job Skills

· Serves as the CCO’s delegate for specific CCO responsibilities. The Medical Director and CCO will meet no less than every 2 weeks to review clinical operations.

· Assumes overall responsibility for oversight and management of the clinical services provided by the interdisciplinary team (IDT) within a community health center setting.

· Hires the provider staff for the health center and ensures that each provider is working to meet the health center’s mission as described by the Board of Directors. Ensures that all provider staff is appropriately credentialed and has been granted appropriate privileges.

· Identifies the need for staff education and assists in the development of in-service programs for members of the IDT team.

· Establishes and maintains clinical supervisory systems which allow staff growth and broaden the scope/efficacy of clinical services provided by staff.

· Provides leadership and counsel to clinical personnel to enhance staff development.

· Develops and maintains a department procedure manual.

· Prioritizes opportunities for improvements and implements new clinic initiatives

· Coordinates with the Quality Improvement Manager on quality improvement projects, including the development and implementation for Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) certification.

· Agrees to abide by the health center’s mission statement, statement of purpose, and guiding principles to provide leadership by example for staff.

· Attends monthly all staff meetings, monthly department meetings and managers meetings.

· Attends and participates in in-service education for staff, quality assurance program, and risk-management programs.

· Each employee of Christ Health is vital to providing overall quality care to our patients and may be included in the patient care team and daily huddle when deemed necessary by the Core Care Team.

Requirements

Qualification, Education, Experience

· A certified registered nurse practitioner (CRNP) or licensed physician with current licensure to practice professional medicine in the state of Alabama required.

· Prefer a minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience including three (3) years in a managerial role in a healthcare environment; preferably a community health center.

· Demonstrated skills in administrative performance, including expertise in written/oral communication, supervision of staff, documentation requirements, service coordination and case management.

· Comprehensive knowledge of medical practice, applicable rules and regulations and industry standards pertaining to primary care in a community health center setting.

· Computer proficiency and a working knowledge of Microsoft programs required.

· Current CPR certification is required.

· Valid Alabama Driver’s License and daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle.

· Must be a United States citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States.

· Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact and promote exceptional service to our patients, families, physicians, fellow employees, and volunteers by displaying attitudes and behaviors that reflect compassion, respect and dignity to everyone we serve.

Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts.


Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence and reports; Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patients, visitors, and other employees of the organization.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.


Reasoning Ability

Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).


Physical/Mental Demands

· Work requires the ability to move and transport objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

· Work requires the ability to remain in a stationary position +/- 90% of the time.

· Work requires the ability to position self to move and good manual dexterity.

· Work requires the ability to communicate, converse with (in-person and over the phone), and exchange information effectively with others.

· Work requires visualizing, identifying, inspecting, and operating a computer and other office machinery, including a computer monitor, keyboard, mouse, and printer.

· Work requires the ability to inspect documents for accuracy.

· OSHA personal exposure risk category I & II.

· Airborne personal exposure risk category I (Possible exposure of the healthcare worker to patients capable of transmitting M. tuberculosis). Universal precautions will be adhered to at all times.


Environmental/Working Conditions

Normal medical office environment. Full-time position.
