JOB TITLE: Summer Day Camp Site Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Youth & Family Director
FLSA TYPE: Non-Exempt, hourly
JOB PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Youth & Family Director, the Summer Day Camp Site Coordinator assists in overseeing and directing the overall planning and operations of YMCA camp activities including program development and delivery, staffing, volunteer and community relationships, budgeting and financial management, facilities planning and operation, and administration. Staff must strive to work cooperatively with fellow employees to achieve the goals and objectives of the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (not a complete list):
- Supervises/schedules staff to ensure adequate supervision of children and effective implementation of scheduled activities, as assigned.
- Oversees and directs program development and delivery to support YMCA objectives for summer day camp and other programs, as assigned.
- Helps train, evaluate and supervise seasonal camp staff, as assigned. Models expected behavior.
- Oversees support services for camp, such as registration, administration, food service, and transportation.
- Maintains and ensures compliance with written activity schedules, menus, schedules, incident/accident reports, and other forms of parent and staff communications.
- Implements a curriculum of developmentally appropriate activities with staff, colleagues, and supervisors.
- Develop and monitor all emergency systems that will ensure camper and participant safety.
- Keep and submit accurate records (participant, financial, accident, maintenance repairs, etc.) in a timely fashion.
- Demonstrates a high level of professional ethics through fair and consistent implementation of all YMCA policies and procedures and licensure requirements with staff, program participants and parents.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures regarding the prevention of abuse.
- Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or misconduct immediately to the appropriate supervisory staff.
- Attend mandatory training on abuse prevention, including recognizing signs of abuse, and reporting requirements.
- Assume all other responsibilities as deemed necessary or assigned.
Requirements
Required:
- Must be 21 years old
- Must possess verbal, auditory and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.
- Positive role model with strong leadership, conflict resolution and diplomacy skills.
- Desire to work with children on a daily basis.
- At least 2 years’ experience working with youth ages 4-12
Preferred:
- 6 months experience with program development and implementation.
- One or more years of college in a related field (i.e. recreation, child development, psychology, etc.)
- Knowledge and ability to build and implement creative, developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Bilingual - English/Spanish
Salary Description
$14.00- $15.00 an hour
