Facilities Maintenance Technician
Description

 GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: To implement the Preventative Maintenance System and perform maintenance tasks to keep the facilities operating for the Visitor Experience. This position will maintain a high-quality level of the visitor experience thru maintenance of the all-visitor areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Perform daily maintenance inspections and repairs

• Perform monthly Preventative Maintenance System tasks

• Cross train for the Lead Custodian and Afternoon Custodian positions

• Perform event set-ups and take-downs as directed by the Director of Facilities, Facilities Manager, or the Facilities Rental and Wedding Coordinator

• Perform a wide variety of general building maintenance repairs and services.

• Install light bulbs, doors, cabinets, paneling, Formica, carpet, and bulletin boards

• Paint interior and exterior walls and cabinets; hang wallpaper and pictures; assemble furniture

• Replace washers, faucets and seals on malfunctioning plumbing equipment, repair leaky faucets and clean clogged drains

• Monitor and maintain all building systems as assigned.

• Responsible for alerting the Facilities Manager of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that may have taken place or that may occur.

• Assure safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, city, state, and federal guidelines.

• Ensure compliance of all work-related activities in a fair, ethical, and consistent manner.

• Follow established company policies and those outlined in the Employee Handbook.

• Special projects and other responsibilities as may be determined.

• Responsible for the completion of all maintenance service requests as assigned.

• Maintain inventory controls for cost effective operations.

• Maintain monthly inspections and maintenance of buildings and air- conditioning; clean, grease, and paint all equipment as needed

• All other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Standard workweek is 10:00AM –6:00PM Tuesday - Saturday, some overtime may be required

• Flexible to change work schedule to cover other staff vacation time or special events

• Flexible to work special events as needed

• Ability to lift at least 60 lbs.

• Ability to climb ladders and walk on roofs

• Dependable work attendance

• Dependable transportation

• Excellent external and internal customer service skills

• Good communication, interpersonal, problem-solving skills, Detail oriented

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED; plus, two (2) years’ experience in facility maintenance work or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Maintain a professional courteous manner with all staff, volunteers, and visitors

• Occasional varied weekly schedule to assist with events and programs

• Some exposure to chemicals used for cleaning and parts maintenance

• Frequent carrying and lifting up to 60 lbs.

• Able to work outside in summer and winter climates

• Occasional reaching, stooping, bending and repetitive arm motions
