This is a PRN position.
Under the general supervision of the Radiation Therapy Director, the Radiation Therapist is responsible for performing safe and efficient simulations and delivery of radiation to the patient as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. The Therapist is a key member of the comprehensive team responsible for the care of the oncology patient and must demonstrate and promote service excellence at all times
Principle Accountabilities:
- Performs tumor localization and carries out CT simulation as ordered
- Perform external beam radiation therapy treatments utilizing linear accelerator located at the center and following the prescription.
- Explain treatment plans to the patient and answer questions about treatment
- Follow safety procedures to protect the patient and themselves from overexposure to radiation
- Perform quality assurance checks on machines to make sure they are safe and are working properly, checking linear accelerator and CT scanner on daily basis
- Prepares treatment room and equipment: transfers patient to treatment area and positions patient for treatment
- Use image guided technology to determine exact location for targeted treatment area
- Cross-check treatment delivery parameters with treatment plan and secondary calculations to ensure radiation is delivered to the appropriate area of the patient’s body
- Check daily patient treatment parameters, deliver the prescribed dosage and maintain treatment records
- Keep detailed records of department, reports, files and archives
- Maintains current licensures and certifications along with yearly continuing education and recertification as required
- Monitor the patient to check for unusual reactions to the treatment
- Keep detailed records of treatment
This position will be located in our South Tampa office location on Armenia Ave or at our Riverview office on Falkenberg Rd.
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
- Graduate of an accredited radiation therapy school.
- Current/valid Florida Radiation Therapy license required.
- Accreditation by American Registry of Radiologic Technology
- CPR certification.
- Minimum three years of relevant work experience
- Proficient in Aria
