FLSA Status: Exempt, Ministerial Exception

Job Status: Full-time


The Pastor/Director of Children’s Ministry is responsible for ensuring that Bayside Kids (Birth through 5th Grade) creates a dynamic and growing environment for children in step with the direction and culture of Bayside Church. The Pastor of Children’s Ministry collaborates with Middle and High School Ministries leaders to develop a strategic, sequential discipleship pathway that connects children and their families to Bayside, and addresses family concerns as needed.

General Responsibilities

  • Recruit, nurture, equip, motivate, and encourage a large network of volunteers and volunteer leaders to support Children's Ministry programs
  • Primarily responsible for casting and implementing vision
  • Work with the Campus Pastor to create an attractive and fun physical environment
  • Manage, develop and train all Children’s Ministry staff including Child Care (CMP), Special Needs, Nursery, 1st- 5th, and Special Events teams
  • Work with Children’s Ministry Team to offer creative, fun, and age-appropriate program options for weekend services, mid-week services, and special events, including Children's Ministry Provided (CMP)
  • Oversee Bayside campus annual camp for kids, Breakaway, through the Breakaway Director
  • Work with other ministry departments to create attractive outreach and mid-week opportunities
  • Select and/or develop curriculum and age-appropriate learning objectives for all programs
  • Develop annual goals and budgets for Children’s Ministry programs with input from Children’s Ministry Staff that support church-wide goals. Manage each activity to stay within budget.

Time Commitment

  • Full-time – Exempt - Includes evenings, weekends and holidays.
