HOURS: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM and participation in after-hours monthly call rotation.


PUYALLUP TRIBAL HEALTH AUTHORITY, located in Tacoma, Washington is seeking a full-time RN Clinic Nurse to work hands-on, providing direct patient care, triage, and patient education.

GENERAL FUNCTION: Provides general health education and direct nursing care for patients and their families, and participates in community outreach events and alternative off site locations.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Communicates and works in partnership daily with health care team and PTHA personnel on patients’ status and provision of health care and education.
  • Carries out preventative, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures, including triage and assessment of patients of all ages, and administers medications, treatments and IV starts, as ordered or directed and completes documentation by end of day.
  • Performs initial and ongoing assessment of individual’s and families’ health education needs.
  • Provides patient education on chronic conditions including but not limited to tobacco cessation, cancer, diabetes, asthma, COPD, heart disease, obesity and various topics at patient or provider request.
  • Plan, coordinate, and participate in health education programs/activities.
  • Maintains knowledge of and collaborative relationship with appropriate resources in and outside of PTHA for coordination of client’s care. Makes referrals as necessary to other departments and agencies.
  • Clean, assess, bandage and monitor wounds.
  • Educate patients and caretakers on wound care, infection and injury prevention.
  • Provide training and education presentations at nurse meetings. 
  • Responds to patient issues received via telephone and email, within two business days.
  • Addresses in-clinic triage same day.
  • Participate in after-hours monthly call rotation as assigned and required.
Requirements
  • WA State Registered Nurse license
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) and minimum (3) years' clinical nursing experience providing director patient care in an acute care and/or primary care setting -OR- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and minimum (5) years' clinical nursing experience
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a wound care nurse role
  • Experience providing health education to patients
  • Current BLS certification and ability to obtain ACLS and/or PALS as directed
  • Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) Certification preferred
Salary Description
$95,000- $105,000 DOE
