Job Description Summary:


The Motor Vehicle Operator (MVO) is responsible for supporting Transportation operations tied to Military Logistic Support services across the island. This position involves operating various vehicles, trailers, and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to safely transport cargo, equipment, and personnel. The MVO ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, performs pre/post trip inspections, maintains accurate documentation, and upholds company safety standards. This role reports to the Warehouse Specialist Lead at the Ammunition Supply Point Lualualei (LLL) and may be required to work overtime or cross-utilize in other job areas as needed.


Essential Duties/Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate gasoline and diesel-powered box trucks, refrigerator trucks, tractors, buses, fuel trucks, and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to transport cargo, equipment, and personnel.
  • Utilize flat-bed and various lowboy trailers coupled by turntable (fifth wheel) or pivotal hook, ensuring all loads are properly secured before transport.
  • Perform pre/post trip inspections and ensure compliance with Federal and State transportation regulations.
  • Load, unload, transfer, stack, or unstack hazardous and non-hazardous cargo, equipment, and supplies using MHE with capacities ranging from 2,000 to 64,000 lbs.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance as required and complete necessary documentation such as timesheets and daily trip logs.
  • Adhere to the mission schedule, Performance Work Statement (PWS), and company policies and procedures provided during in-processing.
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations while performing all job functions.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisors or managers to support overall operations.


Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CDL Class A license.
  • Current HAZMAT (H) endorsement.
  • Current Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
  • Current PUC (DOT medical card).
  • Clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.


Preferred Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Federal and State transportation regulations.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and maintain detailed records.
  • Proficiency in safety protocols and adherence to regulatory compliance standards.


Work Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed outdoors, exposing the MVO to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Physical requirements include moderate to heavy physical exertion, such as driving, sitting, leaning, walking, reaching, climbing, and lifting weights ranging from 1 to 50 lbs.
