Description

Joyce University is currently hiring for an experienced and organized Accommodations and Academic Operations Coordinator to join our team.  The Accommodations and Academic Operations Coordinator is a key team member in the Office of the Provost, responsible for serving as the University’s accommodations officer and for coordinating the reporting and documentation related to programmatic accreditation, institutional accreditation, and regulatory agencies, including Boards of Nursing, through which the Accommodations and Academic Operations Coordinator serves an integral role in ensuring the University remains in compliance with federal and state law, University policies and procedures, and accreditor requirements and standards.  


As the University’s accommodations officer, the coordinator ensures compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations, and University policies and procedures pertaining to persons with disabilities, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. They serve as the entry point in which community members of the University can request or seek information on reasonable accommodations and other accessibility-related matters, and reviews, evaluates, and responds to all requests, collaborating with members of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Associate Counsel, and other key stakeholders on requests when appropriate.  


To ensure adherence to institutional accreditation, programmatic accreditation and state boards of nursing standards and requirements, the Accommodations and Academic Operations Coordinator serves as the project manager for ensuring on time and accurate reporting and documentation for these entities.  


This position reports to the Chief of Staff – Office of the Provost; the University’s Associate Counsel will work closely in managing the day-to-day responsibilities associated with the University's ADA compliance.

WHAT YOU DO EVERYDAY: 

Accommodation Services  

  • Review, evaluate, and respond to requests for accommodation in accordance with applicable federal and state laws, and University policies and procedures. 
  • Ensure appropriate implementation, documentation, and reporting following requests for accommodation, effectively managing sensitive and confidential information. 
  • Communicate policies, procedures, and legal concepts related to accessibility and accommodations in oral and written formats. 
  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to support and interact with a diverse University community to promote equity, inclusivity, and belonging.  
  • Employ conflict management, active listening, and problem-solving techniques to effectively resolve concerns and de-escalate heightened situations.  

Academic Operations and Accreditation Support 

  • Provide support to academic programs and departments in the research, organization and information collection for accreditation and regulatory entities reporting requirements.  
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of institutional and programmatic accreditation reports and documentation through effective project management, collaborating with and supporting the academic leaders. 
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of required reports unique to each state board of nursing in which the University offers enrollment, collaborating with and supporting the academic leaders. 
  • Provide administrative support in the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Requirements

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  Required education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., vocational rehabilitation, special education, social work, human resource management, higher education administration, etc.) 

Required experience 

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience working in disability/accommodation services, preferably in education/higher education, social services or a community service setting 
  • In depth knowledge and experience with the application of ADA/504 requirements to achieve reasonable accommodations utilizing knowledge of applicable local, state and federal laws/regulations relating to ADA/504 accommodations 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Project management experience, CAP-M certification preferred.

Salary Description
$54,000 to $60,000 Annually
