Job Summary:

The Fire Production Manager at Smyrna Truck in Milledgeville, Georgia, will oversee the development of fire vehicles. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong leadership skills and a profound understanding of  fire vehicle development processes. The Production Manager will ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.


The position is based at Fouts Bros, Inc. in Milledgeville, Georgia.


Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage the production team, ensuring efficient workflow, high morale, and adherence to company policies. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.

Lead Manufacturing: Oversee and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure the highest efficiency and quality. Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, improve workflow, and increase productivity. Utilize data-driven decision-making to enhance manufacturing operations.

Building Units Within Quoted Hours: Ensure that all units are built within the hours quoted, maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. Monitor and adjust workflows to meet production timelines and reduce overtime costs.

Driving Labor Efficiency: Implement strategies to drive labor efficiency, including optimizing staff schedules, enhancing training programs, and utilizing productivity tools. Aim to maximize output while minimizing labor costs.

Project Management: Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of the upfitting process, including resource allocation, scheduling, and tracking progress against project milestones. Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ensure project specifications are met.

Quality Control: Implement and maintain stringent quality control procedures to ensure all fire units meet or exceed company and industry standards. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and rectify any issues.

Budget Management: Develop and manage the production budget, ensuring all projects are completed within financial constraints. Track expenses and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.

Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support to the production team on upfitting techniques, tools, and best practices. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to continuously improve production processes.

Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in the production process and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.

Safety Compliance: Ensure all production activities comply with safety regulations and company policies. Conduct regular safety training sessions and audits to maintain a safe working environment.

Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, forecast material requirements, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely availability of parts and materials. Implement inventory control systems to minimize waste and reduce costs.


Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Automotive Technology, or a related field preferred.

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production management role, preferably within the automotive upfitting industry.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The Fire Production Manager will work primarily in a manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to noise, heavy machinery, and various materials. The role may require occasional travel to meet with suppliers or customers. The position demands physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting moderately heavy objects.
