Sunflower Bank, N.A. is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of a full-time Benefits Specialist in Salina, KS. 


• MUST HAVE:  Prior experience with corporate benefits, health insurance, COBRA, retirement and disability administration

• MUST HAVE:  Time management and ability to change priorities as needed

• PREFERRED:  Proficiency with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and benefit enrollment platforms

Job Specs:

The Benefit Specialist is responsible for administering and managing the company’s employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, life insurance, disability coverage, and other perks, ensuring accurate enrollments, addressing employee inquiries, and staying compliant with relevant regulations. They will essentially act as the primary point of contact for employees regarding their benefits package.

  • Assist with employee benefit questions
  • Monitor and report on PTO and State Sick Leave
  • COBRA administration
  • Process and assist with qualifying life events
  • Benefit verifications and Medicare notices
  • Assist with all aspects of open enrollment
  • Assist with the Wellness Program
  • Benefit reconciliations
  • Maintain Benefit documents internally
  • Provide Benefit education to employees
  • Payroll back-up
  • Perform the job in accordance with applicable industry laws and regulations as well as the policies and procedures established by the company.

Education/Experience Preferred:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and disability coverage
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws regarding employee benefits
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively answer employee questions
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities to manage data and deadlines
  • Proficiency with HR management systems preferred
  • Proficiency with benefit enrollment platforms

Pay is dependent on knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and location.
