Under the direction of the Camp Director, this position will perform a wide variety of routine maintenance tasks designated to help maintain the YMCA camp grounds, property and equipment. and other duties as determined by the Camp Director.


Camp Glacier Hollow has a full schedule of programs during the summer months, including programs that continue on some weekends and holidays. Typical schedule for this position is 20-25 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with exact hours determined by needs of maintenance work.

  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Mowing, raking, and minor maintenance of YMCA-owned camp properties.
  • Maintain safe and clean conditions of YMCA grounds.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting in common areas, cabins, and facilities.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, shower houses, and kitchen facilities, including replenishing supplies and removing trash.
  • Perform periodic deep cleaning of camp facilities, including windows, walls, and appliances.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and safety of outdoor areas such as fire pits, seating areas, and walkways.
  • Assist in set-up and clean-up for special events or programs.
  • Monitor inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies and report any needs to the Camp Director.
  • Follow and enforce safety procedures, including OSHA compliance and Hazardous Material handling guidelines as indicated on SDS reports.
Requirements

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 10 pounds and a maximum of 50 pounds, floor to waist height, ongoing throughout the shift.
  • Ability to carry a minimum of 10 pounds and a maximum of 50 pounds, frequently throughout the shift.
  • Ability to push or pull a minimum of 10 pounds and a maximum of 120 pounds (with the use of a dolly) frequently throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for 1 – 10 hours per day.
  • Ability to climb a step stool or ladder, reach forward and overhead, bend, and stoop frequently throughout the shift. Squatting included.
  • Ability to learn and operate camp maintenance vehicles including lawn mower and brush hog.
  • Must be able to be positive role model working around and interacting with kids and pass all licensing requirements, including a fingerprint background check.
