POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Career & Technology Education Teacher (CTE) functions as an instructional leader on a multi-disciplinary team of professionals. The CTE will develop students’ skills and competence in CTE content, the use of technology, and the ability to problem solve in a wide variety of settings. Additionally, will serve in the ongoing development and assessment of curriculum and learning. Provide draft goals and objectives to PPT and Core Curriculum through engaging instructional experiences to promote student’s exploration of ideas and acquisition of the necessary knowledge to achieve their full potential.
- Develops and administers CTE curriculum consistent with school goals and objectives; develops units to be delivered in the classroom/lab.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and utilizes appropriate equipment for subject area; translates lessons into learning experiences to challenge students and best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of technical skills to everyday existence.
- Instructs students in the proper and safe use, care and storage of tools, machines, and equipment.
- Connecticut State Certification as a Technology Education Teacher (#047)
- Previous experience working with special education students.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) Degree in Education
