SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical billing and coding, possess knowledge of medical terminology, and be proficient in medical office systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Review and process medical bills for insurance claims
- Submission of corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeals
- Work closely with insurance companies and provider representatives to get proper payment.
- Communicate payment or denials that impact revenue to leadership
- Review outstanding accounts and aging reports
- Phone contact with patients and family members regarding out-of-pocket expenses and to resolve billing questions.
- Verify patients' insurance coverage and eligibility
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve billing issues
- Maintain patient records and confidentiality
- Collaborate with medical staff to clarify diagnoses or obtain additional information
*Experience:*
- Previous experience in medical billing, coding, or collections
- Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures
- Proficiency in medical office systems and software
- Knowledge of ICD-10 coding standards
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is a full-time position that may work standard business hours four to five days per week. Presence in the office is required. The position operates in a professional office environment and will require significant time writing, typing, speaking, listening, driving, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), standing, sitting, walking, and reaching. Operation of all standard office equipment, non-CDL motor vehicles, and mobile phones and related technology, is expected. The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
