Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.  


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Accurate and timely completion of all tasks and assignments.
  • Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Performs Accounts Payable duties including loading invoices, routing invoices for approval, reviewing and posting invoices.
  • Facilitates Expense Reimbursement process.
  • Enters and verifies deposits, records all bank transactions on a daily basis.
  • Reconciles accounts as assigned.
  • Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are transmitted from the appropriate bank to the designated payee.
  • Supports financial audit; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Prepares NC sales tax refund forms.
  • Recommends enhancements to the accounting software.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and Accounts Payable.
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, required.
  • At least two years of related experience required.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times. 

Work Environment: 

  • Office environment 
  • Hybrid schedule – currently Monday and Fridays are remote, we are in the office Tuesday- Thursday.
