Summary: 

The purpose of the Electrical Engineer is to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate must be a proactive Leader assisting the engineering team to support the design and operation of Modula’s products. Location:

Onsite only in Franklin, OH 


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support of existing product lines:
    • Responsible for maintaining controls-related BOMs.
    • Implements and manages controls related Engineering Change Orders. 
    • Coordinates operating system software updates with production, installations, and customer service. 
    • Coordinates electrical and software changes with our Italian team.
    • Assists with controls training for our production, installations, and customer service teams.
    • When necessary, provides troubleshooting and issue resolution support to our production, installations, and customer service teams. 
    • Ensures that European designed control systems and components meet or exceed required US and Canadian standards.
    • Defines and documents controls changes for special product applications.
  • Custom Applications and New Product Introductions:
    • Functional specification development.
    • Control system design or modifications.
    • Control system functional and safety testing.
    • Generate electrical schematics. 
    • Specification, sourcing, and ERP set-up of controls components. 
    • Create electrical assembly drawings for control cabinets, cabling, and other electrical elements.
    • Development of production-related documentation.
    • Create installation and operating manuals.
    • Controls cost estimating.
    • Possible on-site commissioning support for initial product release.
    • Controls related training for production, installations, and customer service.
    • Development of electrical recommended spare parts lists.
    • When necessary, provides troubleshooting and issue resolution support to our production, installations, and customer service teams.
    • Defines, develops, and executes controls testing procedures and equipment needed for product controls testing. 
    • Communicates and coordinates proposed controls designs and design changes to our headquarters technical office. 
    • Works with international technical office to execute design changes. 
    • Perform machine risk assessments to determine performance level requirements of safety systems needed to mitigate safety risks.
    • Project lead on NRTL certification of new product introductions and new machine options for North American Market.
    • Assists our headquarters with NRTL certification for products produced in Italy and sold in North America.
Requirements

This role is pivotal in supporting engineering efforts. The individual in this position must have a high degree of integrity, resourcefulness, and professionalism in working with colleagues and clients. Relationship building, client service, and the ability to follow up in a timely manner are critical for success. The ideal candidate will have relative experience, excellent communication and leadership skills, and manufacturing aptitude.

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field (Preferred)
  • 2-3 years of experience in electrical engineering in a manufacturing environment.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop an intimate working knowledge of the controls hardware and software used with our current product lines.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in a cross cultural environment.
  • Troubleshooting expertise and attention to detail.
  • Advanced experience using Office 365, CAD and other computer applications.
  • Some travel may be required.

Work Environment:

Walking, standing, sitting, twisting, turning, and squatting. Pulling, pushing and lifting up to 50 lbs.
