Description
Summary
The Bookkeeper computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Bookkeeper
- Heavy accounts payable duties.
- Processes accounting and compliance mail/email/filing.
- Posts and deposits receipts - customer payments and fees/commissions from carriers/partners – electronic funds, credit cards, checks.
- Identifies and obtains/files statements containing details necessary for processing direct bill commissions received from various companies and assists with posting and/or tasking the statements to internal and external parties with related responsibilities.
- Reconciles cash/bank and other general ledger accounts with various ledgers and supporting documents and performs other month-end closing responsibilities.
- Assists employees, vendors, and/or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
- Assists Account Managers with reconciliations of customer account balances.
- Provides assistance for administration of records including contracts, licenses, correspondence and accounting statements, invoices and records.
- Completes assignments of and assistance with tasks within the role-based management system for both accounting and administrative roles.
- Performs other related duties and tasks as necessary or as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of related experience and/or training preferred.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
- Self-motivated and able to handle multiple tasks with minimal guidance in order to meet deadlines.
- Good oral and written communication skills to articulate key information.
- Initiative and willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
- High emphasis on teamwork, collaboration, data analysis, and process innovation.
- Self-starter and work with direction and taking ownership of areas of responsibility.
- Detail-oriented.
