Aduro Advisors is looking for bright and talented individuals to join our team working to support top-tier clients in the Venture Capital & Private Equity space. The Head of Data will report to the Director of Data Products and work with them to expand this department and service offering to capitalize on Aduro’s unique view into the industry’s performance metrics and data.  They will be a key player in the design and scaling of this line of service, executing our mission of practical technical excellence, and overseeing the overall growth and development of their team.

The Head of Data will be responsible for overseeing our Data Products service offering for our client base. In-depth knowledge and experience with data products will enable you to best support your team and our clients. This is not a single focus role; the Head of Data will balance the needs of our clients with that of our service teams and provide business-oriented solutions. Ideal candidates are technically proficient, thoughtful leaders who believe in investing in their team so that their team can provide top-notch product and service to our clients. 


Here is the type of work you will do:

  • Be accountable for Aduro’s data capabilities to enable the firm to fully leverage data assets. Adopt an operational approach to structuring, optimizing and professionalizing data to unlock commercial opportunities from extracting data insights.  
  • Create measurable value from data assets through the definition and implementation of a data strategy, enabling all forms of business outcomes (such as commercial uses, management information reporting, benchmarking, etc).
  • Support the design and implementation of systems, processes and procedures that enable Aduro to use data as a competitive advantage in the Alternative Assets industry. 
  • Drive the implementation and launch of a Performance Benchmarking service line to offer Aduro clients access to Fund performance benchmark insights. Be responsible for driving revenue generation through continuous enhancements of this offering.
  • Identify gaps or limitations in existing data resources or processes and collaborate with internal departments to standardize and streamline data processing. 
  • Coordinate the collection and aggregation of data to enable strategic data initiatives and support data-driven decisions by senior management. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities to leverage data assets and develop solutions with an eye on achieving financial outcomes through value offerings to Aduro clients and wider industry stakeholders. 
  • Engage with external vendors, internal/external industry experts and service teams to stay up to date on emerging trends, client needs, industry developments and best practices. 
  • Establish data governance standards and align with internal product, operations and service teams on the care, ongoing maintenance and usage of data to achieve Aduro’s overarching objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on the development and implementation of generative AI platforms to support Data Product offerings, day-to-day fund administration services and business operations.  

The salary range for the Head of Data position is $140,000-$160,000. Salary is determined based on current market data and candidate experience level. Employees in the Head of Data role are eligible to participate in the Aduro Bonus Program and the stock options program.

Requirements
  • You have 10+ years of experience in data assets, data science, data engineering and data strategy
  • Experience in Accounting, the alternative asset industry, Venture Capital and/or Private Equity is preferred
  • Experience building a new Data Product offering or leading significant data transformations
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty; the ability to adapt nimbly and lead others through complex situations.
  • Experience in building, managing, and scaling data teams. You have a passion for mentoring and coaching team members and take ownership in their development
  • You are naturally resourceful, driven and have strong problem-solving skills
  • You see the value in providing excellent outputs, being thoughtful and know the details make the difference
  • Thrive independently and as part of a team
  • You are comfortable with software systems including Salesforce, G-suite, Microsoft Office, Box, Slack 


You should possess the following

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a relevant field such as information management, data science, computer science or business administration
  • Advanced degree such as Master’s in the above field preferred
  • 5 + years of supervisory experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Strong grasp of modern data architecture, data modeling techniques, and best practices for data governance.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills


Salary Description
$140,000 - $160,000
