Position Summary
Under the direction of the Vice President of Mission Integration and Director, the Pastoral Care Associate is responsible for enhancing the dignity and quality of life of residents, clients, co-workers, and volunteers through assisting in the planning, development, and execution of a Pastoral Care program that recognizes the dignity, intrinsic worth, and spiritual being of the human person, and is designed to assist Camillus House in responding to the needs of the homeless and marginalized in our community.

To carry out all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God and Camillus House.

To assist the Vice President of Mission and Integration in clearly articulating the Mission of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God and Camillus House, and to assist in the integration of this Mission into every aspect of service throughout the organization.
To execute a pastoral care program consistent with the charism of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God, the mission of Camillus House, and the canonical directives of the Roman Catholic Church.
To provide comprehensive pastoral care that develops spiritual, emotional, and psychological wholeness for clients, co-workers, and volunteers.
To schedule a program of spiritual direction for clients, co-workers, and volunteers on an individual or group basis.
To schedule and direct appropriate spiritual and liturgical celebrations relating to the major feasts of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God, the liturgical calendar of the Archdiocese of Miami, and the universal liturgical year of the Roman Catholic Church.
To schedule and facilitate inter-denominational and inter-faith worship services on a regular basis.
To assist in the care and debriefing of persons affected by crisis, disaster, trauma, tragedy, or violent incident.
To assist with the spiritual “end of life” care of clients and others associated with Camillus House.
To provide a caring presence to co-workers, volunteers, and clients in the dining room during morning drop-in and the afternoon meal service.
To serve as a resource participant in regular meetings of Camillus House as directed.
To maintain written reports, progress notes, and records as required by Camillus House.
To maintain the confidentiality and ethical standards of Camillus House at all times.
To carry out any other job-related task that may from time to time be assigned by the Vice President of Mission and Integration.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Demands: While performing job duties, an employee is required to stand, walk, and use hands/fingers. May occasionally lift and move up to 25 lbs., clean (sit, bend/twist neck, bend/twist waist, squat, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, reach, handle, kneel, crawl, reach above/below shoulder height, repetitive movements, wipe, sweep, dust, mop). Specific vision abilities required by the position include close vision, color vision.
Work Environment: The noise level of the work environment can range from low to moderate.
Work Schedule
Non-Remote Position: Full-time, Monday through Friday.
Flexibility: Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed

- Ability to understand and practice the mission of Camillus House.
- Education: Possesses certification in an accredited (C.P.E.) Clinical Pastoral Care education program or similar qualification.
- Language: Proficiency in oral/written English; Spanish preferred; additional languages a plus (i.e., Creole).
- Skills: Proficiency in computer (Word, Excel, other data collecting programs).
- Actively practices the Mission, Vision and Values of Camillus House.
- An ability to appreciate the complexity and demands of ‘hard to serve’ individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Possesses strong organizational skills.
- Possesses excellent writing skills to produce routine memos, correspondence reports, and messages to co-workers.
- Possesses facilitation skills to direct group dynamics, program workshops and co-worker/volunteer events and services.
- Possesses good interpersonal and communication skills to communicate with clients, co-workers and volunteers alike and to handle and process confidential and sensitive information.
- Compassion and patience in dealing with a difficult client group is essential.
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills to maintain teamwork with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Successful completion of Toxicology test, L2 fingerprinting, local background screening, and OIG reference check.
