Job Summary
All On-Call Substitutes are to provide their availability to the Community and Workforce Development Manager. When scheduled, the On-Call Substitute will provide assistance and help as directed by the Site Director and Assistant Director. Assume the job duties and responsibilities of any staff member that is absent due to illness, vacation, a planned break or prep-time. Collaborate with children, staff & families to assure High Quality early childhood education – Assist all classroom staff as requested as we all work together to maintain an internal or external review score of 6.0 for ITERS, ECERS or SAERS score which ensures your center maintains our current Race to the Top rating of Tier 5.
Summary of essential job functions
- Submit availability by every Monday for the following week to the Community and Workforce Development Manager.
- Fill in as directed in a classroom when staff are absent from their assigned shift.
- Give Breaks, Lunches & Assist with Food service or Napping-time as directed.
- Responsible to support the Classroom and your Management team as we all work together to ensure compliance with all Licensing regulations, agency policies and procedures and the Education Code as applicable. Reference CA Code of Regulations, Title 22 Sections 101215 and 101215.1
- Assist in the acquisition of daily supplies needed by classroom staff and support as needed.
- Relieve staff as directed for Prep-time using a Prep-Time Log that accurately records the time each staff member was relieved for planning time (if requested).
- Responsible to plan one day of learning activities for infants, toddlers, Pre-kindergarten and school-age children and maintain these inside a substitute curriculum kit in the event of a staff absence.
- Must have or be working towards obtaining an Associate Teacher Permit or higher-level permit
- BA Degree and Site Supervisor Permit up to $28/hr.
- AA degree and Associate Teacher Permit up to $25/hr.
- Associate Teacher Permit up to $20/hr.
- Enrolled in classes and working towards Child Development Permit up to $18/hr.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work at various locations, as needed.
- Ability to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds to support children.
- Ability to bend and squat to interact with children.
