Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to guide the modernization and migration of enterprise applications to secure, scalable, and resilient cloud environments. This role involves leveraging deep technical expertise in cloud technologies and working within Department of Defense (DoD) frameworks to support the United States Air Force's cloud adoption goals. 

The Senior Cloud Engineer responsible for overseeing the strategic and technical aspects of migrating enterprise systems and applications into Cloud One. This position requires a collaborative leader with expertise in cloud technologies and a track record of managing complex migration projects. The Lead Cloud Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration, optimization, and scalability of FedRAMP+ cloud environments.

The Senior Cloud Engineer will design, deploy, and optimize applications in multi-cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, operating at various DoD Information Impact Levels (IL). 

This position requires innovative thinking, strong collaboration skills, and a commitment to upholding cybersecurity and operational standards critical to national defense initiatives.


Job Duties:

  • Architect and Design Cloud Solutions:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain cloud architecture solutions across AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) that align with DoD standards, including FedRAMP and FedRAMP+ compliance at IL 2, 4/5, and 6.
  • Lead Cloud Migration Efforts:
  • Support the modernization and migration of enterprise applications in a collaborative, team-driven process and data to secure, scalable cloud environments while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards (e.g., DISA STIGs, NIST).
  • DevOps and Automation Leadership:
  • Lead DevOps teams in implementing CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and containerization technologies such as Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes, ensuring continuous delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Infrastructure and Security Oversight:
  • Oversee the deployment and optimization of cloud infrastructure, ensuring robust data security, disaster recovery, and adherence to FISMA, DISA STIGs, and other DoD-specific regulatory requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with application owners, DoD stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to design and implement cloud-native and secure solutions that meet mission objectives.
  • Technical Leadership and Mentoring:
  • Work with and mentor team members, sharing best practices in cloud deployment, DevOps, and cybersecurity
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay abreast of industry advancements in cloud technologies, security protocols, and compliance frameworks, and integrate innovative solutions to enhance system performance and scalability.
  • Documentation and Compliance Reporting:
  • Prepare detailed documentation, including architecture designs, security plans, and migration strategies, and ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity and operational reporting requirements.
  • Incident Response and Troubleshooting:
  • Lead efforts in identifying and resolving complex cloud infrastructure issues, including those related to performance, security, and availability.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
  • Act as the technical liaison for stakeholders at all levels, presenting complex concepts in an accessible manner and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.


Requirements
  • Active Secret clearance

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field and equivalent years of experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud architecture with public cloud providers (certificate preferred) such as AWS, Azure, OCI, and GCP in FedRAMP and FedRAMP+ environments, and at least 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Minimum of 5 years in developing and deploying a variety of server-side applications and systems in a cloud environment and familiar with software development in a modern cloud stack.
  • Strong familiarity with cloud migration, infrastructure, and security concepts into DOD authorized IL 2, 4/5, and 6 cloud environments across four Cloud Service Providers (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and Google Cloud Platform).
  • Demonstrated experience leading DevOps teams and implemented automation practices and tools, such as Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, and Git.
  • Familiarity with data security requirements aligned with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), FISMA, NIST and/or FedRAMP compliance.

Certifications:

  • Possess an active and relevant baseline 8570.01 certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP)

Preferred Skills:

  • Hands-on engineering experience in Linux, Python, Cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP), CI/CD tools and other open-source technologies.
  • Cloud Architect Certification in 1 or more of the 4 CSPs: Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and Google Cloud Platform
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
