Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm
Compensation: $60,405-$100,000, based on experience.
Location: Rochester, NY, On-Site
The Manufacturing Engineering team exists to develop, implement, and refine production processes that will improve manufacturability, quality, and on-time delivery. The Manufacturing Support Engineer works closely with both Manufacturing and Design Engineering to resolve systemic issues in the manufacturing process and make process improvements. It requires a highly analytical and objective approach to problem solving and root cause analysis.
The Manufacturing Engineer is a critical team member contributing to the transition of new products from Design Engineering to Manufacturing ensuring that robust manufacturing and test processes are developed for all new products.
This position has an emphasis on identification and resolution of systemic issues and a commitment to identifying opportunities for continuous improvement on existing product as well as bringing documentation and process control to previously uncontrolled processes.
- Use existing and new metrics to identify opportunities for process and quality control improvements.
- Develop creative new processes, fixturing, and infrastructure improvements to ease assembly complexity and improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering and the Productization group to support introduction of new products including process development, documentation, and design for manufacturability.
- Make design for manufacturability improvement or error correction recommendations to Design Engineering on existing product, and lead and drive to completion, prioritize.
- Under direction from Design Engineering, implement design changes and when directed create documentation package for release including ECN (Engineering Change Notice)
- Other tasks and duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: (Experience, Education, Certifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
- A minimum 2-year degree in a technical discipline is required, or equivalent work experience.
- 4-year degree in an Engineering discipline is preferred.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing and assembly methods.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and systems engineering concepts.
- Understanding of troubleshooting and problem-solving fundamentals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read Electrical Interconnects and Engineering Drawings
Physical and/or Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time (8-hour shift) in an office setting, utilizing standard office equipment (computer, keyboard, computer mouse, phone, etc.)
- Ability to frequently move about and navigate through the workplace; a manufacturing environment which may involve uneven surfaces and stairs.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects of up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to spend extended periods of time using common hands tool to assemble machinery.
