Pay Range: $36.00 to $40.50 per hour, depending on experience

We are committed to delivering excellent customer service while maintaining a work culture fostering community, collaboration, and innovation. We are seeking to hire a full-time Staff Accountant to join our team at our corporate office located in Newport Beach, CA.


The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for assigned apartment properties.  


Essential Job Functions

  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliation’s, balance sheet and security deposit reconciliations
  • Record and deposit payments received (i.e., refunds, utility reimbursements, etc.) into the appropriate financial institution bank account on a daily basis
  • Investigate bank statement reconciling items in a timely manner.  Immediately notify the Controller of any unusual items
  • Calculate and track debt balances and payments in accordance with individual financing agreements
  • Prepare and obtain proper approvals requests for debt payment
  • Preparation of wire instructions for debt service payments
  • Prepare and book monthly journal entries related to financial statements
  • Tracking of property tax and insurance payments
  • Analyzing monthly financial statements
  • Verify the propriety of recorded payables and receivables, including preparation of monthly management fees
  • Investigating budget variances
  • Accurately completing financial package and submitting to Controller for review in accordance with Accounting Calendar
  • Prepare and ensure all monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to lenders and institutional and other owners/investors
  • Re-forecasting annual budgets
  • Ensure all audit/tax adjustments are posted in a timely manner
  • Monthly activities encompass processing and storing the various month-end reports
  • Performing monthly reviews with the Property Director to verify the accuracy of financial information
  • Ensure historical records are kept and available via systemic reviewable systems
  • Provide excellent customer service on-site personnel.
  • Assist Property Controller with specific projects as necessary
  • All duties and responsibilities shall be performed as set forth in our established policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to and assures compliance with Standards of Conduct, company policies and procedures and all applicable rules, regulations and standards as promulgated by Federal, State and accrediting agencies or regulating bodies. This includes, but is not limited to, Department of Housing and other applicable regulatory agencies.

Education, Training and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four year college/university in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3-5 years of accounting management and financial analysis experience.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting best practices.
  • Excellent organizational and communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and completing priorities.
  • Required to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner
  • Requires excellent people skills and the ability to effectively work with corporate, on-site personnel as well as vendors.
  • Requires high level of organization and time management skills
  • Requires high level of attention to detail.
  • Experience in MS Excel, Word and Outlook and construction accounting software.
  • Flexible, willing, team player attitude.
