The Quality Control Manager is a critical member of the company’s management team and is responsible for ensuring timely and effective implementation of all company's policies, procedures, and activities involved in assuring the quality of manufactured products. The Quality Control (QC) Manager maintains close working relationships with other department managers and supervisory personnel to meet and maintain product quality, identify, solve, and prevent problems affecting product quality, maximize productivity, and comply with regulatory requirements. The QC Manager will help play a role in developing scalable quality systems and direct quality team members that will continue to support ongoing growth. 


In addition to these duties, the Quality Control Manager will also:

  • Have full responsibility for developing, implementing, and maintaining the quality control system in compliance with quality standards and regulations
  • Lead and promote a culture of quality compliance by developing staff members and communicating priorities and requirements across the organization
  • Coordinate quality control activities with manufacturing managers and supervisors to ensure product reliability, product flow, and the reduction of quality discrepancies
  • Develop quality metrics and communicate non-conformance issues to management in a timely manner to drive process changes and improve quality
  • Establish and/or modify quality processes to improve operating efficiencies
  • Drive quality supplier activities to improve quality of inbound materials
  • Perform inspections on both incoming parts and internal assembled product
  • Test and inspect parts/products for dimensional, functional, and cosmetic standards to ensure requirements are met during all stages of receipt, production, and assembly  
  • Use measuring instruments and equipment (e.g., calipers, comparators, gages, micrometers, etc.) to accurately complete various levels of inspection 
  • Review process certification, raw material specifications, and certificates of analysis 
  • Assist with identifying and correcting quality issues and communicate to the team
  • Have the authority to hold product(s) not meeting quality standards or that adversely affect overall customer satisfaction 
  • Complete necessary paperwork to fulfill customer and quality requirements (e.g., recording test data, quantities inspected, etc.). 
  • Review product history records and other documentation for compliance with established procedures
  • Participate in the calibration and gage control function, as required
  • Document and correct quality issues by working with the internal teams and directly with vendors/suppliers 
  • Share quality knowledge and experiences to create best quality inspection processes 
  • Improve and/or create quality systems and documentation (e.g., SOPs, quality manual, etc.)
  • Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings
  • Perform additional assignments per management direction

Requirements

Supervisory Responsibilities:


The position is responsible for managing the QC Department. The QC Manager will provide leadership and direction to the QC Department, to include: 

  • Hiring and onboarding new employees
  • Time and Attendance Management
  • Monitoring daily performance of team to meet metrics and inspection goals
  • Training and development of team members
  • Participating in performance management and discipline
  • Conducting regular performance reviews               


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR 
  • In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required (i.e., high-end custom-building products, industrial pumps, valves, threaded products, fabricated luxury products, etc.)
  • Knowledge of quality management system and its implementation
  • Strong mechanical inspection experience, including methods, practices and tools
  • Dimensional Inspection experience of precision machined parts or similar products; Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints and all applicable drawings
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience working with various inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gages, thread gages, coordinate measuring machine, etc.)
  • Understanding of AQL (sampling plan)
  • Decorative plating inspection experience
  • Strong computer skills, including solid ERP experience
  • Excellent documentation skills

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, ability to adjust focus, and to distinguish colors.


Salary Description
$75,000 - $90,000 per year
