Description
A Gymnastics and Cheer Program Specialist represents the YMCA as a team leader in gymnastics and cheer seasonal programs. The primary responsibility is to provide a safe, educational and enjoyable camp day to participants of a variety of ages. Gymnastics Instruction will be based on the YUSA-Gymnastics Progressive and cheer programs.
Principle Activities:
- Maintains a safe environment; responsible for the supervision of their campers within the group structure
- Effectively teaches YUSA and USA gymnastics skills with age-appropriate safety and properly using demonstrations and equipment; adhere to safety procedures set forth by supervisor(s)
- Maintains cleanliness of gymnastics area, sets up/cleans up before and after each rotation
- Write lesson plans to ensure groups at camp run smooth and each child has the opportunity for advancement; give suggestions/recommendations to ensure camp runs effectively
- Effectively communicate between staff, parents, and supervisor
- Be a role model and set an example in words and actions
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and YMCA trainings
- Reports Incidents/Accidents using an Incident/Accident Report Form. Reports information accurately, thoroughly, and legibly
- Make sure participants are having a fun and engaging experience
Job Qualifications:
- Minimal gymnastics or cheer experience required, coaching experience a plus
- Ability to effectively communicate with parents and staff
- Leadership skills
- Ability to give and receive appropriate feedback
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to take initiative to help each part of the camp day run smoothly and effectively
- Must be 18 years old or older
Hours: camp hours, seasonal
Salary Description
$16 - $18hr based on experience
