Medical Equipment TechnicianMedical Equipment Technicians are responsible for ensuring safe delivery, setup, and education on usage of home medical equipment for our customers. Setup is done in their home, long-term care setting, clinic or any location deemed necessary to service patients. We provide all training on all HME that we offer.
Job Duties:
- Develop a working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the company and all governmental regulations.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Educate customers on the use and care of their respiratory and HME equipment
- Learn to complete documentation with our patients during visits via iPhone software
- Assist with customer equipment problems
- Maintain home oxygen systems through regularly scheduled visits to customers.
- Safely drive and maintain company vehicle, following all Texas traffic laws
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and simple repairs on equipment
- Report equipment hazards and/or product incidents to Management
- Cover after hours / on-call responsibilities one a month for additional pay
- Use and follow all company guidlines for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), gloves, masks, etc.
- Learn and follow infection control and hazardous materials handling
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all guidelines of HIPAA
- Completes assigned compliance training and other educational programs as required
- Responsible for cleaning equipment, processing shipment and equipment RMAs when assigned by supervisor
- Perform any other MET related duties as assigned by Management
Minimum Job Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalencyCustomer service experience
Driving/delivery experience
Valid and unrestricted driver’s license in the state of residence
Must have reliable transportation to and from work
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
Must be able to stretch, bend, stoop and crouch and perform moderate to heavy physical labor while moving equipment and supplies
Subject to long periods of sitting and driving
Work environment may be stressful at times, as overall work activities and work levels fluctuate
May be exposed to unsanitary conditions in some home settings
May be exposed to hazardous materials, loud noise, extreme heat/cold, direct, or indirect contact with airborne, bloodborne, and/or other potentially infectious pathogen
May be exposed to high crime areas within the service community
Must be able to drive independently and travel as needed
May be exposed to angry or irate customers
Must be able to access the patient’s residence without assistance
Mental alertness to perform the essential functions of position
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with customers with the ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion, courtesy, and respect for privacy
