Job Summary
As our Carpenter, you get to be part of building custom, one-of-a-kind Hinckley boats, all indoors in a climate-controlled environment year-round. The ideal candidate is a skilled boatbuilder or carpenter with experience in marine joinery, has a strong eye for detail, and can interpret technical drawings. This is an opportunity to fabricate cabinetry, bulkheads, and furniture, contributing to the signature elegance Hinckley is known for. Responsibilities
- Fabrication: Construct and install custom interior components. Work with exotic woods, veneers, laminates, and composite materials.
- Technical Interpretation: Transfer dimensions to marine plywood and other materials. Read and interpret blueprints as well as position parts in specified openings with screws or laminates.
- Detailing: Perform high-quality finishing work, including sanding, staining, varnishing, and polishing. Ensure all surfaces meet company standards.
- Product Lines: Knowledge of woodworking joints, such as scarf, sill splice, lap, finger, and dovetail. Skilled use of epoxies and vinylester resins or other adhesives to bond parts.
- Other: Follow defined instructions and procedures in the performance of tasks. All duties as assigned.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all work complies with marine safety standards. Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols.
- Experience: Twelve (12) months carpentry, plus 2 years boatbuilding experience, which may be attained on the job and by company training.
- Physical Requirements: Lift and carry over 60 lbs. on an occasional basis (over 15% and up to 40%).
- Certifications: Must hold a valid driver’s license.
- Pre-Employment: All applicants must be able to successfully pass a background check as a condition of employment.
Qualifications
- Proficient in marine-grade woodworking and joinery techniques.
- Skilled in working with exotic hardwoods, veneers, laminates, and composite materials.
- Experience in constructing and installing cabinetry, bulkheads, doors, custom furniture, etc.
- Familiar with fitting joinery of irregular shapes and sizes.
- Able to read and interpret detailed technical drawings and design specifications.
