Job Posting: Occupational Therapist (OT)
Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to deliver exceptional occupational therapy services to patients in their homes. Working under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services/Clinical Manager, the OT will provide treatment according to physician orders, helping patients improve or regain functional independence and quality of life.
Responsibilities:
- Provide prescribed occupational therapy services aimed at improving or minimizing physical disabilities.
- Help patients return to their highest possible level of function and independence in daily activities.
- Collaborate with other healthcare personnel in the development and review of patient care plans.
- Perform all skilled occupational therapy procedures, including fine motor movement exercises.
- Lead and supervise staff, including Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and Home Health Aides, as needed.
- Conduct initial patient assessments, develop and implement plans of care, and reassess patient progress every 30 days.
- Consult with physicians about potential changes in treatment and modify plans of care accordingly.
- Document progress and treatment outcomes in detailed reports to physicians.
- Educate patients and their families on home programs and exercises designed to improve fine motor skills and overall functioning.
- Submit initial evaluations, care plans, and goals to physicians for approval, with recertifications every 60 days.
- Complete progress notes after each visit and prepare a summary report upon patient discharge.
- Present inservice training to Agency staff on occupational therapy techniques and best practices.
- Assist physicians in evaluating the patient’s level of function.
- Continually reassess and update the patient’s plan of care based on progress.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical and progress notes.
- Offer guidance and consultation to families and other Agency personnel on occupational therapy-related matters.
- Participate in ongoing inservice training and development programs.
- Engage in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities as assigned.
Working Environment:
- Primarily works in Agency offices and patients’ homes.
- Requires travel to and from patient homes.
Job Relationships:
- Supervised by: Director of Clinical Services/Clinical Manager
- Supervises: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and Home Health Aide(s) as assigned
Risk Exposure:
- High risk
Lifting Requirements:
- Ability to participate in physical activity and moderate lifting.
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift frequently during therapy sessions.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited Occupational Therapy program recognized by the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), or
- Eligible for the National Registration Examination by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Currently licensed in the state(s) where practicing, unless licensure does not apply.
- Two (2) years of experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
