Description
Summary:
The Senior DevOps Engineer manages the DevOps process for Valpak Clipp working to improve collaboration between development and operations teams. The primary responsibility is to design and implement DevOps strategies and ensures that software is delivered efficiently. Works with software engineers to automate and accelerate the testing, deployment, and monitoring of applications quickly and reliably. The Senior DevOps Engineer will have a background in development processes, operations, and distributed systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain infrastructure systems that support the timely delivery of high-quality changes to production, enabling self-serve reversions by SLO owners and aiding in root cause analysis for change failures.
- Collaborate with technical colleagues to guarantee smooth deployment, automation, and management of cloud infrastructure.
- Able to coach and influence others to up-level the craft of DevOps.
- Own observability, monitoring, and alerting.
- Identify, investigate, and aid in the remediation of risks to security.
- Monitor, identify, and support the delivery of opportunities for performance and cost optimization.
- Provide guidance on policies and procedures to support a high level of availability.
- Automating software deployment, configuration, and upkeep processes
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, then use them to enhance your software infrastructure.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or software engineering. Master’s degree a plus.
- 5+ years of DevOps/SRE experience on large-scale consumer-facing cloud-hosted ecommerce properties.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Requirements
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, demonstrated by driving successful large-scale infrastructure projects spanning multiple teams.
- Hands-on experience with AWS ECS, Terraform, Docker, WAFs, DataDog, and AWS IAM.
- Excellent proficiency with the command line and GNU/Linux.
- High level of familiarity with security and networking best practices.
- Data-driven experience planning, delivering, and validating improvements to scalability, costs, and performance optimizations.
