This position assures on-time, cost-effective and accurate undamaged delivery of proofs, samples, and finished products to customers and vendors. Assures receipt of ordered goods and materials and their storage and/or distribution to the departments requisitioning or using them in various production processes. Assists in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and other lift machinery to move items onto and off trucks, loading docks, or appropriate production areas
· Completes accurate and timely data entry; provides written reports to various company constituents regarding mailing status and statistics.
· Deals with multiple, shifting mailing deadlines.
· Reads and understands the job ticket and other special instructions before beginning the assigned job
· Obtains and records accurate counts of finished products, goods, and/or materials to be shipped and for those received
· Packs materials in a manner that will ensure delivery without damage, following job jacket and/or customer packing specifications as needed
· Identifies contents and number of products using proper labeling methods
· Arranges for shipments and communicates required delivery dates to carriers
· Obtains correct receipts from carriers with full information confirming shipment and/or delivery
· Keeps an accurate log of all shipments
· Checks incoming shipments of materials and goods to determine if they are the same as ordered, in quantity, quality, brand, and grade, and reports damaged goods to supervisor
· Stores received materials in proper storage areas
· Delivers goods and materials to the proper requisitioning department
· Traces lost or delayed shipments and initiates claims for loss or damage
· Checks the accuracy of all shipping and receiving documents
· Maintains good security habits at the dock doors
· Perform other duties as assigned

· High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
· 1 - 3 years of previous mailing or material management experience preferred
· Picks up and delivers orders as specified by the manager or other Material Handlers.
· Develops a mastery of USPS mailing permits and the ability to work with Client Services and Postmaster to troubleshoot permit and/or mailing issues.
· Wraps and bands skids of printed material for full load shipping. Empties both trash and recycling bins.
· With notices, works eight, nine, ten-hour days as required to handle a varying workload.
· As necessary, works weekend overtime as part of the material handling team.
· Safely operate a forklift, pallet jack, and any other lift equipment required for the job (following appropriate training)
· Full comprehension in reading work instructions and business memos
· Effective communications skills with all levels within the organization
· Ability to use basic math skills, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurements and critical thinking, to solve practical problems
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
· Must have the ability to work effectively in stressful situations and meet stringent deadlines
· Be organized and able to plan, prioritize and follow through on projects assigned with minimal supervision
· Has basic computer skills
