JOB OVERVIEW


The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, building, and managing new product or service opportunities to contribute innovative ideas leading to future growth within our industry. This will involve conducting market research, analyzing current products and services, determining opportunities for increased customer engagement, identifying new product/service development, establishing partnerships with vendors, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement new products/services. This candidate will work very closely with Ethos leadership on the competitive positioning and the feature set as well as with Marketing for developing the most productive definition of the value proposition, the identification of the most effective communication channels, and the most effective lead-generation process.  


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Identifies and develops new business opportunities to find successful product-market fit.
  • Builds relationships with customers, suppliers, distributors, partners, and vendors.
  • Evaluates existing partnerships and sales efforts with an eye toward building on what works and changing what doesn’t.
  • Manages key client relationships and works to build new ones.
  • Expands the profile and reach of the company and its brands.
  • Collaborates with sales, marketing, finance, and operations teams.
  • Presents to and collaborates with the Ethos Executive Leadership team and Ethos Advisory Board on a regular basis.
  • Works directly with VP of Sales & Marketing to develop new product introductions and commercialization strategies.
  • Develops and strengthens internal and external relationships that will lead to increased lead generation and market share.
  • Tracks emerging markets and trends.
  • Fosters and works to maintain an entrepreneurial growth culture throughout the company and across all teams and work functions.
  • Identifies and recommends new services.
  • Proposes and develops strategic partnerships.
  • Helps to shape the company’s long-term objectives and determine plans for how to meet them.
  • Researches and identifies new markets.
  • Provides advice on product development and distribution and promotion strategies.
  • Identifies sponsorship opportunities, including nonprofit engagement.
  • Travels to vendor locations, distributions centers, and other locations.
  • Fulfills requests for proposals (RFPs) from potential partners and customers.
  • Helps direct development of customer-facing web platforms and digital experiences.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or related field, MBA a plus
  • 5-10 years’ business development experience
  • 3-5 years’ supervisory or management experience
