Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for basic accounting tasks like managing accounts receivable and payable, posting journal entries, reconciling bank statements, preparing financial reports, and maintaining accurate financial records, all under the supervision of a corporate controller while adhering to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).


Essential Job Responsibilities not limited to:

  • Data entry: Recording transactions into the general ledger by posting journal entries.
  • Accounts receivable management: Tracking outstanding balances and following up on overdue payments.
  • Accounts payable management: Reviewing vendor invoices, processing payments, and maintaining vendor records.
  • Bank reconciliations: Matching bank statements to company records and identifying discrepancies.
  • Payroll processing: Supporting payroll calculations and data entry.
  • Monthly closing procedures: Assisting with the month-end closing process including reconciling accounts and preparing journal entries.
  • Audit preparation: Gathering supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Reporting: Generating various financial reports as needed.
  • Compliance: Ensuring adherence to accounting regulations and company policies.
Requirements

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Advanced in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables)
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and principles

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP)
  • 3-year experience in an accounting department
