Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join our team. This position requires advanced knowledge of system administration concepts, processes, practices, and procedures. As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting, configuring, and maintaining a variety of operating systems, servers, and virtual/cloud environments. Your role will also involve performing software installations and upgrades, ensuring optimal system performance, managing backups, and promoting best practices through documentation and audits.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • System Installation & Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain operating system workstations and servers, including virtual, cloud, and web servers, ensuring alignment with business processing requirements.
  • Software Installation & Upgrades: Perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and associated software packages. Schedule and execute these installations/upgrades in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
  • System Monitoring & Tuning: Monitor, evaluate, and fine-tune system performance to ensure optimal operational efficiency, applying advanced troubleshooting techniques as needed.
  • Data Integrity Management: Ensure data integrity on workstations and servers by implementing and managing appropriate hardware and software solutions.
  • Backup & Recovery: Implement and manage a comprehensive backup schedule, including system backups and database archive operations. Ensure recoverability of critical data/media through both internal and external storage solutions.
  • Standard Operating Procedures: Develop, promote, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and efficiency in all systems administration tasks.
  • Hardware & Software Audits: Conduct routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Configuration Management: Develop and maintain a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library, including all supporting documentation related to system configuration and operations.
  • Collaboration & Support: Provide senior-level support for business processing requirements, working under general supervision to align technical solutions with business goals.
  • Policy & Procedure Compliance: Ensure adherence to IT policies, procedures, and best practices while managing and supporting system installations, upgrades, and maintenance.
Requirements

Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • New hires assigned on this project will be required to undergo and pass drug and alcohol tests per our client's contract requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years of experience in senior-level systems administration with advanced practical knowledge of operating systems, server management, and cloud technologies.
  • Proficiency in system installation, configuration, and troubleshooting, including both hardware and software.
  • Strong experience with system monitoring, performance tuning, and backup/recovery management.
  • Excellent understanding of IT policies, procedures, and best practices related to systems administration.
  • Experience conducting audits and managing configuration databases.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Salary Description
$60,000 - $105,000
