Job Summary:
The Operations System Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing the company's critical custom applications, ensuring seamless integration with industrial automation systems. This role requires expertise in VB.Net, C#, VBS, and VBA, along with strong database management and custom reporting skills. Additionally, the engineer will work closely with Control Engineers to support PLC and SCADA systems, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of software-driven automation processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance custom applications in VB.Net, C#, VBS, and VBA to support operational and automation needs.
- Design, optimize, and manage SQL databases, including stored procedures, queries, and performance tuning.
- Develop and maintain custom reporting solutions, ensuring accurate and accessible data for decision-making.
- Collaborate with Control Engineers to integrate software applications with PLC and SCADA systems for improved automation and monitoring.
- Support and troubleshoot industrial control systems, ensuring seamless communication between software, PLCs, and SCADA platforms.
- Automate and optimize workflows using scripting and database-driven solutions.
- Implement cybersecurity best practices for software, databases, and networked control systems.
- Document software applications, system configurations, and database structures to ensure long-term maintainability.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in VB.Net, C#, VBS, and VBA for application development and automation.
- Strong experience with SQL databases, including stored procedures, queries, and optimization.
- Knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems, with experience in industrial automation integration.
- Familiarity with custom reporting tools and business intelligence solutions.
- Ability to troubleshoot software, database, and industrial control system issues.
- Understanding of network architecture and cybersecurity best practices in an OT environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with Control Engineers and other cross-functional teams.
