We are seeking a skilled and experienced Pharmacy Consultant to provide expert guidance and support to healthcare organizations, pharmacies, and other clients. The Pharmacy Consultant will help optimize pharmacy operations, improve patient care outcomes, ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations, and contribute to the development of pharmacy-related strategies. This role involves analyzing existing pharmacy practices, offering solutions for improvement, and advising on regulatory compliance, business growth, and best practices.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assess and optimize pharmacy operations, including medication management, inventory control, staffing, and workflow processes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure the quality of services provided by the pharmacy.
  • Advise on the integration of new technologies, software systems, and tools to improve pharmacy processes.
  • Analyze pharmacy data, including drug usage patterns, cost analyses, and patient outcomes, to provide actionable insights for clients.
  • Develop reports, presentations, and recommendations based on data to support decision-making and business planning.
  • Help clients identify opportunities for growth within their pharmacy operations, including expanding services, improving profitability, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Advise on ways to manage pharmacy costs effectively, including drug procurement strategies, formulary management, and reimbursement optimization.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance cost-efficiency without compromising patient care or service quality.
  • Provide guidance on clinical pharmacy practices, including medication therapy management (MTM), patient counseling, and the development of therapeutic protocols.
  • Evaluate current 340B operations and recommend process improvements for drug purchasing, inventory management, and contract pharmacy arrangements.
  • Assist clients in maximizing 340B savings by identifying underutilized opportunities and recommending strategic changes.
  • Provide expert advice on resolving complex 340B-related issues, including problems with compliance, contract pharmacy relationships, and drug distribution practices.

Desired Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmacy practice, with at least 2 years in a consulting or leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of 340B program regulations and guidelines (HRSA, OPA, state-specific laws).
  • In-depth knowledge of pharmacy operations, electronic health records, and pharmacy automation/systems.
  • Pharmaceutical purchasing/inventory experience.
  • 340B ACE certification within 6 months of hire date.
  • Experience presenting to management staff and C-suite leadership.
  • Excellent analytical, reporting, technical and problem-solving skills
  • Innovative and proactive mindset.
  • Flexibility to wear several hats, ranging from strategy to hands-on systems work as needed.
  • Deep intellectual curiosity to explore new methods and learn new techniques outside one's own expertise.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams.

Evaluation and Process Improvement:

  • Annual performance reviews will be conducted along with goal setting.
  • Provide recommendations on process improvements.

Job Location: 

  • Remote office
  • Travel expected up to four times yearly to onsite client meetings and/or conferences.
