The responsibilities of the Network Support Engineer shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Provide full network management including monitoring, analyzing, reporting, and suggesting improvements for security and network performance
  • Research and develop new or expanded systems; architect and design infrastructure; assist in creating and implementing technology standards and policies; analyze user requirements and operations constraints; perform unit test, system integration and user acceptance testing
  • Perform routine back-ups and file recovery tasks
  • Add, delete, modify, and maintain network accounts as requested
  • Add, delete, modify, and maintain e-mail accounts as requested
  • Research and suggest proactive solutions that will increase the efficiency, integrity, security, and effectiveness of the network
  • Document tasks, procedures, environments for setting up and maintaining systems
  • Troubleshoot any issues with Hardware, Software, or the network
  • Configure, install, and maintain Hardware as requested
  • Provide capacity planning for Hardware
  • Research, evaluate, test, recommend for approval, and implement approved available updates to Hardware and Software
  • Work cooperatively with other vendor personnel to maintain connectivity
  • Follow and promote use of industry best practices, standards, and procedures
  • Assist the Application Support Vendor, as necessary
  • Assist Project Managers, as necessary.
Requirements

  

The Network Support Engineer shall possess the training, certifications, and/or experience sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the tasks described herein for said position. The following are examples of training, certifications, and experience that may demonstrate an individual has the ability to perform the tasks required of the Network Support Engineer:

  • College coursework in information technology, preferably with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with an emphasis in information technology, or experience sufficient to demonstrate an extensive knowledge of network management commensurate to this level of education
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Network Engineer providing services similar to those set forth herein
  • Novell Certified Engineer (NCE) and/or Certified Novell Engineer (CNE)  
  • Novell Certified Administrator (NCA) and/or Certified Novell Administrator (CAN)

 Novell certs are NOT required to be current and any Novell Experience would be a plus but is not fully required.

  • VCP-vSphere, VCAP, VCP, Datacenter Certification, Desktop Certification, knowledge of vSphere/ESXi, vCloud
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) – Server Infrastructure and/or Desktop Infrastructure, or similar certification from Microsoft after this certification is retired
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Fundamentals
  • HPE Master ASE – HPE Master Accredited Solutions Expert (or certifications in this portfolio that could be used in this engagement)
  • SUSE Certified Administrator (SCA or SCA+).
